3 steps to a successful application

Simply complete the online questionnaire. Make sure to read steps 2 and 3 beforehand.
Our response
Once we have received and reviewed your application, you will receive a response from us via email. If our assessment is positive, you will be invited to a Zoom meeting to get to know each other better..
Acceptance and Documents
The Zoom meeting is an opportunity for mutual introduction, where you can ask questions and discuss your camp preferences. You will receive direct feedback from us on what aligns with our values. If we both feel that we are a good fit, we will work together to find suitable camp assignments.
We will then send you all the important information by email that you will need for your assignment. Afterward, the following documents are required from you to complete the application process:
– Signed contract with personal details
– Extended criminal background check (a certificate for the application will be provided by us)
– First aid certificate (minimum 8 hours, no older than 2 years during the camp)

The minimum age for teamers is 16, and there are no upper age limits!

Minimum age of 16 years.

A friendly and open demeanor, enthusiasm, and a respectful attitude towards children and young people.

The duration of the assignment is flexible and can be adjusted to your availability. Many team members choose one or more weeks, depending on their personal circumstances. We offer assignments ranging from one week up to 10 consecutive weeks, spread over the Easter, summer, autumn, and Christmas holidays. This way, you can plan your assignment ideally and support the team as best as possible!

You apply via Bookacamp and upload the personal questionnaire there.
We will contact you for a short introductory conversation.
If everything works out, we will send you an offer and contract.
We will see you at the Easter Up or Summer Up, where you will meet the other team members and prepare together for the upcoming season.

The application phase is open – the earlier you apply, the better your chances of getting the best spots! After we receive your application and have the introductory conversation, we will let you know if it works out. Even at short notice, spots may become available

As a teamer at Berien, you take on an important role that includes both educational and creative tasks. Your main task is to design a varied and interactive programme that is tailored to the children’s diverse interests. You will help them to develop their social and personal skills in an environment that focusses on teamwork, creativity and positive development.
In addition, you will work closely with other teamers and camp leaders to implement the overall programme and help foster an inclusive, supportive environment. You will also be a role model for the children, helping them to develop confidence and enthusiasm for the activities.

During Berien’s staff training, you will be fully prepared for your role as a teamer. The process begins with a digital self-study course in which you work through the theoretical basics on your own. This is followed by 2-4 online meetings with Oni or Mirco to clarify open questions and optimally prepare you for the next phase. The highlight is the Summer Up or Easter Up: 99% of the focus here is on practical exercises. In interactive workshops and simulations, you will learn how to organise activities with the children effectively and how to act safely and competently in everyday life.

The training also promotes dialogue with other team members so that you can prepare for the upcoming camp with your colleagues. The focus here is on building a positive and inclusive atmosphere, which you will also pass on to the children in your role as a role model.

In short, the staff training will teach you everything you need to get the most out of your time as a teamer and offer the participants an unforgettable time.

Yes, participation in the Summer Up is usually required if you work as a teamer at Berien. The training is an essential part of the preparation to ensure that you are well prepared for your tasks. It teaches you important pedagogical and organisational skills that you will need to ensure the smooth running of the camp. It also helps you to familiarise yourself with the team and the procedures.

Without attending staff training, you may struggle to fit in quickly with the camp team and fulfil the expectations of your role. It is therefore a good opportunity not only to develop your own skills, but also to better understand how the whole team works.

The first aid course you completed for your driving licence (9 teaching units) is sufficient as long as it was completed no more than two years ago.

At Berien, teamers who take part in at least one camp have the opportunity to acquire additional qualifications:

Lifeguard course: Teamers can complete a lifeguard course and submit the costs to Berien. The company will then cover the costs of the course.

Juleica (youth leader card): Berien also offers the opportunity to take the Juleica course, which is an official qualification for leading groups and activities with children and young people. This qualification not only helps with work at the camp, but is also an advantage in many other areas of youth work.

At Berien, accommodation and catering are fully covered during the camps. As a teamer, you will receive free accommodation and meals during the camp week. Accommodation is usually provided in high-end youth hostels that are tailored to the needs of the counsellors and children. Catering is also provided so that you can concentrate fully on your tasks.

The accommodation and catering offer allows you to concentrate fully on the essentials during the camp: looking after the children, laughing together, the exciting activities and the team experience. You don’t have to worry about practical matters, but can enjoy your time with the children and your team without any distractions.

Yes, Berien takes different dietary requirements into consideration. During the camp, vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free and gluten-free meals are offered to ensure that all teamers and participants receive a suitable meal that meets their individual needs. The kitchen endeavours to provide varied and balanced options so that everyone has a good choice.

If you have special dietary requirements, it is recommended that you communicate this in advance so that plans can be made accordingly.

The journey to the camp where you are assigned is usually organised by Berien or you will be provided with a clear plan. This can take various forms:

Our teamers can usually plan their journey well in advance to make the best possible use of their options. Most of them travel inexpensively with the €49 ticket to the camps, even to more distant locations in Germany. Travel costs are not reimbursed directly, but as a teamer you will receive an expense allowance that usually covers these costs generously.

In some cases, it may also be possible to cover the cost of train transfers for teamers. In this case, we will pay for the train tickets so that you do not have any travelling expenses.

For camp leaders and camp directors who have a higher level of responsibility at the camp, travel costs will be reimbursed up to a maximum of €150. This also applies to instructors who run empowerment or swimming courses, for example.

Car pooling: If several teamers come from the same area, it is often possible to form car pools to travel to the camp together.

Detailed travel information: Before the camp, you will receive precise instructions on how to get to the respective camp location, including the best connection options. If the camp is in a more remote region, meeting points for the journey are often defined.

It’s a good idea to ask Berien or the camp leaders in advance for specific details on how to get to the camp so that you can get there easily.

Yes, as a Berien GmbH teamer you are comprehensively insured. We offer you liability insurance through DEVK, which covers both personal injury and property damage. This allows you to focus on creating the best experiences for the children while staying safe and protected.

Yes, as a teamer at Berien you will receive a salary. The pay is competitive and increases with experience. In addition to the salary, you benefit from free accommodation, free entry and catering during the camp week, which adds value to the overall package.

Yes, as a teamer at Berien you also have free time during the camps. This time is used to recover and prepare for the next activity. During your free time, you can relax, take part in activities or socialise with other teamers.

The exact amount of free time varies depending on the camp and your individual schedule. As a rule, our team will ensure that there is a good balance between your daily camp tasks and periods of relaxation. However, it is important that you remain available during your time off in case you are needed for emergencies or special tasks.

Yes, in many cases you can have your work as a teamer at Berien recognised as an internship, especially if you are training or studying in a relevant field (e.g. education, social work or sport). The exact recognition depends on the requirements of your school, university or training institution.

Many institutions already co-operate with Berien and we are happy to support you in this regard. It is a good idea to contact us directly if you would like to know whether your work at Berien will be recognised as an internship. We will then also be happy to contact your training school or university to clarify everything.
